You know that amazing wedding photograph of your parents you inherited? Or the alphabet tapestry your grandmother did for your first child? Have you ever tried to open it up? Don't.
The majority of framing done in the past, and unfortunately, still being done today, is not conservation framing. That means bad news for the important things you are trying your best to preserve. We've had many tears shed in our studio when customers see the damage done by careless framers.
Conservation framing means that the techniques are reversible and the materials used will not damage the artwork. We adhere strictly to this practice, and pride ourselves on this. All matboards, foamboards, tapes and glues are acid free. This means they won't discolour your work, or cause damage through deterioration over time. We will never apply glue to your photograph, or insert a staple through your tapestry. These techniques cause irreversible damage, and that's not our job.
Our job is to work with you, to capture your memories, and showcase them in a way you can be proud of, knowing they are safe for generations to come. That's the point of conservation framing.
